The Mountain Interstate Forum on Languages and Cultures (MIFLC) welcomes interested colleges and universities to consider hosting its future annual conferences. Sponsoring a MIFLC meeting provides the opportunity to showcase your institution, serve the profession, and engage your faculty and students in the latest research from our disciplines.
Considerations for hosting MIFLC:
- An interested institution should request the official “Working Papers” from the MIFLC Secretary-Treasurer (heil@mail.etsu.edu) to review the responsibilities associated with organizing and executing a MIFLC meeting.
- The faculty member who directs/oversees the conference at their institution will serve as President of MIFLC and Chair of the MIFLC Executive Committee during the year in question.
- The host institution must send to the MIFLC Secretary-Treasurer (heil@mail.etsu.edu) two letters of commitment—one from the department chair and one from the school’s dean or equivalent administrator—following the templates included below.*
- The host institution agrees to hold the conference during the three days stipulated in Article IX. A. of the Constitution.
- The conference budget of the host institution may be supplemented by the departmental or school-wide budget to cover additional expenses if necessary.
Other considerations:
- Does your institution have adequate hotel facilities to accommodate the MIFLC participants?
- Does your institution have adequate space to accommodate the conference sessions? (Past conference programs are available upon request. Institutions that do not have adequate conference space have used hotel meeting rooms for the conference.)
- Is your institution in relative proximity to an airport?
